A little local love for two local legends who’ve been helping us get some much-needed works done around the farm.

Anyone who has visited lately would have noticed all the rain has turned both carparks into muddy swimming pools. 🏊‍♀️

🚜 A huge thank you to Ryan from Rhino Earthworks, who brought in the heavy machinery to move, spread and compact everything for the resurfacing of our back car park, as well as creating a new private parking area. It means we can keep more of our main car park free for visitors

🛘 And to Chris and the team at Western Port Sand & Soil, who kept the trucks rolling in with load after load of rock, gravel and recycled brick to make it all happen.

We believe in keeping it local, and these two local businesses have been an absolute pleasure to work with. If you need earthworks, machinery work, sand, soil, rock, mulch or gravel around the Western Port/Mornington Peninsula area, give these guys some love!

New on our shelves 🌊🌱

We’re very excited to be stocking Southern Seagreens, grown and harvested right here on the Mornington Peninsula.

Native Australian kelp is grown at their sea farm off Flinders, while Wakame is hand-harvested from southern Port Phillip Bay, turning an introduced species into seriously delicious food while helping our native kelp forests regenerate.

💡Need some inspiration?
Sprinkle over eggs, avo toast or salads, stir through pasta or rice, add to soups, or use as a salty, umami-packed seasoning on roast veggies or chips.
It’s exactly what we’re all about: Local food, grown and harvested by local legends and very much our kind of thing!

🍋Lemonade Lemons!

Unlike a traditional lemon, they’re sweet enough to eat straight from the tree, with very little acidity. They’re fantastic sliced into salads, added to drinks, served with seafood, used in desserts or simply enjoyed fresh.

I was out on this gorgeous crisp afternoon, picking a fresh batch for head chef Brenton at Deep Water Lounge in Hastings. Their bartender Brad will be making them into a cordial for a summer cocktail.

The best part? They’re in season right now and we’ve got them available in our Train Produce Shop while they last.

Open Thursday–Saturday | 9am–3pm

This week I visited Dave at @mushroomforestry in Tyabb to learn about the delicate craft of growing his renowned gourmet mushrooms, and Michael at @freshherbcompany, whose consciously grown herbs have been nurtured on the same family property for generations.

Today, Tahlia & Nick from @sundaypizza_co turned Dave’s oyster mushrooms and Michael’s fresh basil, sage and chives into something pretty special.

We’re also excited to be relaunching our partnership with Mushroom Forestry, bringing Dave’s mushrooms back to Benton Rise, where the company was first started by Ryan & Deb who many of you will still remember. A lovely full-circle moment 🥰

What a weekend! 😮‍💨🤩
Rosa needed to take five under the bench after the rush dissipated 😴😂

Our busiest weekend since taking over Benton Rise Farm back in August, and we’re feeling incredibly grateful. The support, encouragement and feedback from this community has honestly blown us away. It’s pretty special seeing so many people resonate with what Benton Rise is all about.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we ran low on a lot of stock after the overwhelming turnout the last four days.

Huge shout out to Tracey, Lisa, Lola, Rosa and Kat for the dig-deep efforts, teamwork and care they brought across the weekend. We got there crew! 🙌🏽 Full sinks, tickets on top of tickets, lightning pace and everyone stepped up for each other. Couldn’t be prouder of this team!

This place is growing into something really special, and we’re excited to keep building it alongside this incredible community.
